Time-worn appliances pose tough decisions
As possessions go, home appliances don't get much respect. They don't have the sex appeal of a slinky car with a powerful engine or even a computer with a big glossy screen and a fast processor.
But they certainly get our attention when they quit working, when we don't have any clean clothes, melted ice cream is running onto the floor or we can't microwave dinner. And, maybe most of all, when we have to decide whether to fix or replace one of these formerly loyal, mechanical servants.
Large appliances
Do-it-yourselfers can usually get parts, sometimes for appliances that were made 50 or more years ago. Sears and other major appliance dealers maintain, or can order, parts for most of the major appliances they have sold.

We have had this mixer very long, but it seems really very smoothies. Blower doors of our old, who was a Braun PowerMax. It is a bit high, but I do not expect to have a quiet blender. This mixer is the best purchase I made this summer.
- In its early years -- pre-kids -- Oster was put to good use as a cocktail blender. As a young married couple, my husband and I hosted many get-togethers with friends and while the men generally stuck to beer as the libation of choice, Oster helped
I was told some company bought out Oster and/or they discontinued the Kitchen Center. It was a blender and mixer in one. My mom's is a dark yellow, with stainless steel bowls that sit on a turntable. You can take the top part off to put the blender on
