What is the best way to sand drywall in prep to paint.?

I just removed wallpaper from my walls. I also had stickers stars glow in the dark on my ceiling, which, when removed, torn pieces of plasterboard. Ok, use a random orbital sander with 80 grit sandpaper (if you have very rough spots that are extremely high).

Now, if you have spots that are fair.. So-so, advice and mounds that are almost flat, then use 120 grit.
